Moosehead Lake: Part 2


As I took a lot of pictures in Maine, I wanted to spread them out a bit. The good news, I am not posting all 460 of them, just the ones that came out good (for me). This post will include the other bits of nature spotted on our travels, hikes, boatings. Hope you enjoy.

Ohh...Thanks for the sights around Maine...whats up with that beetle with the infestation? would love to know whats going on..maybe could tweet that out on twitter..might be a few bug people on..

Great photos! Funny that we were in the same general area. Also interesting that we got some similar photos - the dragonfly is a Chalk-fronted Corporal, that spider is a female carrying it's egg-sac, the red lichens are called British Soldiers, and the butterfly is (I think) an Atlants Frittilary.
Really curious about that beetle with the infestation.

Christopher - thanks for the ID's - very helpful, and the mites i think are just hitchhikers from what i can find - they eat the fly larva on the corpses these beetles breed in

dawn- my button is a crude save and repost, but it works :)
